I’m a huge fan of Pat Flynn and his goal of helping people break free by creating passive income for themselves online. Plus if you take a look around his site he has put out an unreal amount of free valuable content. From in-depth breakdowns, insightful podcast episodes, and so much more.
So when I saw his course was open for enrollment I knew I had to jump on it.
There were a few surprises both positive and negative but I’m overall happy with the course because I implemented a few specific things Pat taught and it led some nice commissions on several different products I was promoting. Here’s a screenshot of commissions from a financial product just a few weeks after implementing some things taught in 1–2–3.

So with that let’s jump into the course and get into the strengths and weaknesses.
First off in his own words he has said this course his not for total beginners. So if you don’t have a website up or know what autoresponder is this is not for you. However, if that is the case for you Pat does have a free course called Build Your Own Brand which is perfect for those just getting started in this online world.
I won’t go into what that course is about since that’s not what this is about but if you are new start there. You’ll be able to see if you enjoy learning from Pat and get a taste for the value he provides. After you take action from that course 1–2–3 Affiliate Marketing could be a fit for you afterward.
Now that that’s out of the way let’s breakdown the course.
The course is broken down into 5 modules here are some quick summaries of what’s covered. I show every single lesson below as well.
What You Need to Know Before You Begin
Pat shares a high-level overview of affiliate marketing, what made him successful, and what you can do to win the game over the long term as well. He also shares a high-level overview of the course.
Step 1: Choose the Right Product
My main take away from this module was picking affiliate products to promote by starting with the goal the audience has. For example, if your audience wants to get clearer skin you might recommend all the different aspects of that. From eating a healthy diet, what face masks would best, proper rest, and so on and so forth. Going from that standpoint will help you find the right products to promote.
Step 2: Passive Promotional Strategies
This is where Pat stats to share some systems to help you earn some commissions passively. For example how to set up your website with a getting started and resource page. As well as how to structure your email welcome sequence to build a relationship quickly and early on.
Step 3: Active Promotional Strategies
Pat breaks down a number of example posts you can create to drive sales. From how to document the step by step process of using a certain product, how to create demo videos, set up interviews with people who have used the certain products, and a number of practical posts to create to generate traffic and sales.
The Affiliate Marketing Recipe Book
This module shows you step by step how Pat goes about promoting books, software, and online courses. It comes with PDF checklists he goes over the over all-purpose and strategy of the promotions, and how to do it in a way that won’t scare off your audience in a very low-pressure way. This module is a big key to how Pat has become such an affiliate marketing superstar by running this play book time and time again.

Weekly calls with Mr. Flynn himself, bring your questions ready to go and you can get them answered directly.
The content itself and what is taught is a great segway from his free course aforementioned above Build Your Own Brand. It shares the basics of affiliate marketing covering topics such as how to get an affiliate link, how to keep your content up to date with affiliate links to more advanced lessons such as how to create the perfect autoresponder sequence and fully leverage your getting started & resource pages.
He also shares different strategies to genuinely promote a range of different products with what he calls “the affiliate marketing recipe book.” He goes over promoting books, software, & online courses/training. In my opinion, this is one of the most valuable sections of the course, it also gives insight into how Pat thinks and about structuring his different promotions.
One highlight as well is the learning experience Pat and his team created. Most lessons are shared with video, audio, & PDF. So depending on your learning style you have what best suits you. I like to listen with audio lessons that were more conceptual when I drive around because it also’s me to absorb them in a different space and think how I could apply it within my business which has led to some of my best ideas.
Pat’s years of on-camera and podcast experience have paid off. Throughout the course, Pat hardly ever rambles and goes off-topic. He also shares a good amount of examples when necessary to help his point come across and help you understand it.
The support for this program is one of the stronger suits where Pat hosts weekly office hours where you’re able to hop on and speak with him directly. He also shares his personal email where you can reach out to him directly with questions there. I’ve never sent him an email so I don’t know his response time but it is a nice option to have if for someone reason you can’t make the weekly calls. Unfortunately, there is no Facebook group or community for members to congregate for questions so that end of the experience is lacking. If you do want to connect with others I would recommend hopping on the weekly calls, asking great questions to make yourself known and connect with others through there. Obviously not the ideal way to do it but it works to some extent.

Pat is one of the greats in affiliate marketing and has shared an incredible amount of value over the years. I don’t think this course fills in every gap but I do think that the rest of the free content does. My recommendation is that if you want to get started with affiliate marketing start with Build Your Own Brand and then to take your affiliate commissions enroll in 1–2–3 Affiliate Marketing.
If you’re a bit unfamiliar with Pat too and he hasn’t proven himself to you yet I recommend checking out different free content he’s put out. That will most likely get you pretty far and if you want to invest in yourself kick it up a notch with this affiliate marketing course.
